Get involved with our fish tagging program in ME

Join us on this 3 hour saltwater fishing charter as we catch, tag, and release migratory fish as part of the Littoral Society's Tagging Program.

Help us monitor and preserve the health of this fishery for generations to come.

Guests must be physically able to stand whilst fishing, and safely maneuver around a 20’ center console boat on the open ocean.

Tag & Release Fishing Trip:

Use tagging equipment to add tags to juvenile stripers
All licenses and equipment provided

How it works

Information we add to the tags:

Your name and email
Date and location
Size and age of fish
Fishing method

If re-caught, the Littoral Society will send you a certificate and hat to thank you for your participation.

How many people can come on the trip?

The maximum number of passengers you can have in your group is 4.

How do you tag a fish?

The fish tags are very thin hollow tubes that are inserted into the side of the fish just under the scales using a hollow needle. For more information about the process, check out our Fish Tagging Program

What should I wear?

Bring an extra layer or windbreaker, as it can be much colder when the boat is moving on the ocean than on land.

Sunglasses, sunscreen, and closed-toed shoes are also recommended (no flip-flops).

Are dogs allowed on the Fishing Charters?

Although we absolutely love dogs, we kindly ask that you leave your pups out of this activity for their safety.

Is this a family friendly trip?

This charter is available for people ages 9+

Can I take our catch home with me?

No. This charter is Tag & Release only. If you are looking for the chance to take home a striper, check out our Striper Fishing Charter.

Will I get seasick?

Seasickness can occur, especially on rough waters. If you're prone to seasickness, consider taking precautions like medication or wearing acupressure bands.

Can I bring food and alcohol on the trip?

Certainly! Feel free to bring your favorite drinks and snacks on board. Just remember to drink responsibly and be mindful of others.

Do I need to buy a fishing license?

No. We provide all the licenses needed for the trip.

Do I need to bring my fishing pole?

No, all equipment is provided. We will bring a variety of high performance rods and reels that are dialed in for this kind of activity.
